This project called for a complete strip-out and refurbishment of an existing mountain cabin in Mallorca. The brief was for a contemporary interior that included local materials that combine to form an almost minimalist space.
The existing building interior required complete replanning – walls were repositioned and space reconfigured to make the best use of the small space.
Local builders, craftsmen and materials were used throughout to give the interiors an authentic Mallorcan feel. The colour palette was kept intentionally cool as a counterpoint to the warm Mallorcan summer sun. New openings hidden behind timber shutters allowed the spaces to interact with the external stone walls and far-off views of the local mountain scenery.
